From Heart to Hand Member Exhibition 2024


Each spring, all FASM Members are given the opportunity to show the community their best work in this prestigious exhibition.

This small works show is open to FASM members only. EARLY REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

NOTE: You must be a FASM member in good standing to enter this exhibition. Haven't paid your 2024 Membership Fee yet? Membership Application

Normally, each member would be eligible to enter up to two pieces for an entry fee of $45.00. However, based on the overwhelmingly high response by members to participate in the last two member exhibitions, and the limited wall space at the gallery, we are asking members to submit one piece for now, and pay only $35 by the early deadline of March 21st. Please apply as soon as possible so that we can give your one piece preference.

If there is additional space for a second submission from applicants for an additional $10, you will be notified soon.

Second submissions will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. The entry form time-stamp will be used to determine the order, to be fair to everyone.

Notes:

1) Your payment must be received by this date as well. If you are sending a cheque, please make sure it is sent well in advance.

2) If response is very high, there is a chance that no one will be able to include a second piece of artwork in this exhibition.

3) Note that new guidelines for exhibitions in the Holcim Gallery require that each artist provide Insurance Value for each piece submitted. This will not be published in the catalogue.

ARTWORK GUIDELINES:


• Due to gallery restrictions, each piece cannot be larger than 40" wide and 42" in length.

• Original artwork only, no giclee prints or other print reproductions (except in the case of photography).

• The work must be your own.

• Only artwork completed within the last 2 years, and not previously exhibited in the Holcim Gallery, can be submitted.

• A diptych will be considered 2 pieces of artwork.

• Unframed work must be finished to the edge and in "Gallery Condition" - that is, a) the sides of the canvas are painted in one solid colour, or b) the painting image wraps around the edges.

• Please ensure that your pieces are ready to hang with a wire BEFORE intake.

• Fibre Art should have a hanging sleeve attached on the back top with an inserted wood dowel flush to the edges. Eye screws should be attached to the dowel ends for hanging.

• 3D freestanding artwork will be placed on a pedestal or plinth.

• All artwork must have the artist's name, the artwork title, price, and contact information attached on the back of the piece.

• TEMPORARY ART LABELS: In addition to the information on the back of each piece, and for the convenience of the hanging crew, you must print, fill out, and attach temporary labels to the top right-hand corner of the front and back of each piece of art. Please do this at home to save time at Intake. If you do not have a printer, we will have extra labels at Intake that you can fill out and attach to your pieces.



LABELLING YOUR ARTWORK FOR INTAKE:

2) Complete the labels, printing clearly. If your work is not for sale, please write NFS.

3) Cut out the labels.

4) Attach each label to the top right-hand corner, front and back, on each piece of artwork.



IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS:


• The email and phone number of each artist will be included in the catalogue for the sake of potential sales.

• FASM reserves the right to use images submitted for the catalogue for the promotion of the the Exhibition.

• The sale of Art is between the Artist and the Purchaser. Once you have sold a piece, please email Nargis at behindmyart@gmail.com to let us know about the sale. At this point we will ask the Gallery to put a Red dot to mark it as sold.

• Please note that the work cannot be removed until the Exhibition Outtake, on May 26th.

• Make sure your contact details are included when you send information for the booklet we set out for visitors.

• We ask that the Artist be present when the Purchaser is picking up the sold artwork. Please take a picture with them and your Art and email it to us so we can promote it on social media. Please tag #fineartssocietyofmilton in your posts as well.

• Deadline for early application:* MARCH 21, 2024

• Drop-off (Intake) date: MONDAY, MAY 6, 2024, 4pm - 7pm

• Opening Reception: FRIDAY, MAY 10, 2024, 7pm - 9pm

• Pick-up (Outtake) date:** SUNDAY, MAY 26, 2024, 3pm - 5:30pm

* Entry forms and payments must be received by March 21st for the first round of applications. At that time, we will review space in the gallery for accepting a second round of applications. Stay tuned.

** Artwork not picked up on time will be left at the artists’ risk and incur a penalty charge. FASM is not responsible for the loss of or damage to submitted Artwork.



PAYMENT OPTIONS:


1) E-transfer: March 21st deadline. Send to payments@fasm.ca. Include a message that it is your payment for the From Heart to Hand Member Exhibition.

2) Cheque: March 21st deadline. Mail to (or drop off): 820 Childs Drive, Milton, ON L9T 4J2. Be sure to give yourself at least 1 week - your cheque will not be accepted after March 21st. Include a message that it is your payment for the From Heart to Hand Member Exhibition.



VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:


Do you have time to lend a hand and help put this exhibition together? Only 1-2 hours per week is required, perhaps less.

2) Cheque: Payable to The Fine Arts Society of Milton; please state on the message line it is for Heart to Hand 2024.

 

Mail at least two weeks before March 21st to 820 Childs Drive, Milton, ON L9T 4J2 to ensure we receive it in time.

 

After March 21st, we will have a better idea of how much space will be available for accepting 2nd paintings.
